An Exciting Collaboration with Pawsh Magazine

We are so excited to announce a collaboration we've been working on with Pawsh Magazine. Today Pawsh debuted what will become a monthly column on their website entitled Pedigree Poems. Together we worked to design custom illustrations that exemplify each breed's personality and characteristics which will be accompanied by a creative breed specific poem. The idea is to teach people about each breed in a fun and unique way. We just adore the whimsical poem Pawsh editor, Laura Benn, came up with for the Boston Terrier!

It has been so awesome working with Pawsh and we are honored to be a part of their gorgeous online publication. We can't wait for many more months to come. You can see the whole thing in action over on their blog!

These Are a Few of Our Favorite Things: Perfect Form

When we got our first dog we were admittedly overprotective. She was so little and we were so inexperienced that we would rush to the vet anytime we found a bump, scrape, or symptom on our fragile puppy. Well, three dogs later we have learned a lot and can more clearly see that dogs are tough, they are resilient, and they do best without a lot of unnecessary meddling from veterinary care. When possible we do our best to treat our dogs with natural remedies.

That being said, we discovered The Honest Kitchen company and were immediately hooked. One product in particular that we could not live without is their Perfect Form herbal supplement. Said to help support proper digestive and intestinal health, this product alleviates tummy upset faster than you can say, “Uh oh, Spot had an accident!”

Product: Perfect Form Herbal Supplement

Brand: The Honest Kitchen

Dobermans notoriously have sensitive stomachs, and since we have two, when they don’t feel well our backyard is a scary situation of unsightly “puddles” (insert TMI comment here). We have found Perfect Form to be a nearly immediate solution for tummy troubles and literally don’t leave home without it. It comes in powdered form so it’s super easy to administer and travels well. Just add the suggested amount of Perfect Form to your dog’s food twice a day, **we mix it together with warm water too, and within one or two feedings your dog will be going normally again.

This power packed powder supplement contains only natural ingredients including papaya lead, plantain, slippery elm, organic pumpkin seed, fennel, papain, and pectin and has helped our dogs get back to normal on numerous occasions. True to it’s name, it assures Perfect Form in record time!

DIY Instagram Wall

We are addicted to Instagram. There we said it. Those square images in all their filtered glory, we really cannot get enough. We wanted to be able to enjoy our pictures without staring face down at our phones all the time, so we printed them out and posted them on a real wall and ta da, Insta-wall art.

It took a little planning and a lot of tedious sticking and straightening, but we love the end result… and Cupcake appears to be pretty satisfied too. Want to make your own totally awesome wall of Instagram magic? Here’s how we did it.

DIY Instagram Wall

Supplies:

Instagram pictures (or any square sized images)

  Black foam core board

  Photo safe adhesive spray

Permanent mounting tape (we used Scotch brand, double-sided squares)

  Pencil

  Tape Measure

  Ruler

  Level

  Painters tape

Cutting implement, i.e. razor blade or Exacto knife

  Scissors

Step 1: Plan.

First, decide the dimensions you would like to work with. For the sake of understanding we’ll give you the numbers we used.  We went with fourteen by fourteen 3-inch squares. * Hint: it helps to draw it out.

Our measurements: (14 squares X 3” = 42”), with a ½ inch space in between each picture (13 spaces X .5” = 6.5”), for a total of  (42” + 6.5” = 48.5”).

Step 2: Measure.

Measure, level, and tape off your work area with painters tape.

Step 3: Print pictures.

Print your pictures. There are infinite sites that will print Instagram pictures for you; however, we found a quicker and more cost effective method.  We needed 196 photos (14 X 14), so we used photoshop to size two 3” square photos onto one picture and printed 98, 4" X 6" pictures at Costco.

Step 4: Crop photos.

Cut out each picture (make sure to keep each photo as close to 3” X 3” as possible).

Step 5: More measuring and cutting.

using a pencil, measure and mark 3” squares onto your foam core board and cut out using a razor blade.

Step 6: The sticky part.

Adhere picture squares to foam core squares using photo safe adhesive.

Step 7: Assemble.

Starting in the top left corner of your taped off square, (using the permanent mounting tape) stick the first picture, measure half an inch over, and stick another square. continue until you have all fourteen across, and then repeat the same system working downward, then across, then down until you have used all your squares.

Step 8: Admire your work.

Now stand back and take an Instagram pic of your Instagram wall and tweet it for everyone to see.

*For the frame we picked up 1.5” pieces of wood from the hardware store, painted them black, and nailed them straight into the wall to form a frame around our Insta-wall art. Ta da.

Happy 1st Birthday Diesel!

It is hard to believe that our once 8-pound puppy is somehow already one year old!

Over the past year he has gained a whopping 70 pounds coming in at a massive 78 pound one-year weigh in. He has grown from the most adorable rollie pollie puppy into a handsome dog right before our eyes.  His clumsy puppy trot has been replaced by a long graceful stride, and he has gone from jumping through hula-hoops to clearing fences with ease.

He received his AKC STAR Puppy certificate at 5 months old, completed Cool Dog 1: Puppy Kindergarten, Cool Dog II: Beginning Good Manners, Cool Dog III: Mastering Good Manners, and Cool Dog IV: Mastering Good Manners with Distractions. He has learned sit, lay, wait, stay, come, speak, and high five and can pretty much charm a treat out of anyone.

We are so very thankful for every moment of this precious boy’s life. He has brought us so much joy and love and makes us laugh on a daily basis. He is the epitome of happiness and we adore that about him. Since the first day we brought him home at 8-weeks old, we have only fallen more deeply in love with this dog. We cannot imagine a single day without you Diesel. We will love you forever.

Happy birthday buddy!
