To celebrate Diesel’s first birthday we spent the whole day playing, treating, feeding, and loving on our dobe boy. Diesel loves food and toys more than anything, so we made him peanut butter banana cupcakes and gave him the biggest bone we could find.

If there is one thing this boy loves, it is peanut butter. So we knew his first choice of pupcake flavor for his birthday would of course have to involve a whole lot of pb. Diesel stood watch in the kitchen the entire time his cupcakes were in the making as if to say, “I know those are for me.”
He licked the spoon, and then patiently waited while his cupcakes baked. He could barely contain himself as we insisted on singing happy birthday, and then proceeded to consume an entire peanut butter banana cupcake in one bite. Needless to say, the rebel crew agrees these cupcakes are 4-paw approved!
Spring is here! We love the beautiful landscape in full bloom, the promise of warm nights, hiking and being outdoors with the dogs. But the one thing we don't welcome with the changing of the seasons each Spring is the appearance of rattlesnakes. Every year in the United States alone, over 150,000 dogs and cats are bitten by venomous snakes, making them 300 times more likely to be bitten by a venomous snake than to contract rabies.
Dogs are naturally curious, an inquisitive dog and a rattlesnake can be a deadly combination. So this past weekend the rebel pups attended Rattlesnake Avoidance Training at Cool Dog Training.
How does it work? Trained snake handlers place hooded snakes in various locations on a rural property and then walk each dog through the course. The dog is allowed to smell, hear, and see the snakes, but never touch them. They will learn to associate the smell, sight, and sound of a rattlesnake with "bad". So in the future after going through the clinic, if the dog encounters a rattlesnake, it will not only avoid the snake but also alert its owner to the snakes presence.
Is it safe? Absolutely! Each rattlesnake is hooded, so there is no way for it to bite.
How long does it take? Each dog is rotated through the course twice, to assure they understand the association. The process generally takes under an hour and is an invaluable tool to protect your dog.
Today was bitter sweet, our awesome foster dog Snoop was adopted! Today the dog who melted our hearts and seamlessly joined our family, starts the second chapter to his happy ending.
Snoop went to live with the most incredibly kind couple, Lala and Abel, and their rescue dog, Lady. Like us, they instantly fell in love with Snoop’s endearing disposition the moment they met him. After a brief meet and greet the decision was made, he would join their family and live happily ever after.
Not only will he be showered with love and affection, but he has a friend to play with too. Situated on lush green acreage in the country, Snoop’s new home is the perfect oasis for him to explore and live the happy go-lucky life he deserves.
We already miss that happy Dobe grin and his boundless energy, but knowing he will forever live surrounded by love makes us so very happy. We love you buddy! Thank you Lala and Abel, you two are life savers.
