Dixie Diaries

Name: Dixie

Age: Estimated 3 years

Breed: The shelter has deemed her a Rottweiler and yellow Labrador mix. She has a beautiful short tan coat, with light blonde Rottweiler/ Doberman markings on her face and chest.

Gender: Female, spayed

Health: She is healthy, happy, and just gorgeous!

Dixie's Story: Dixie was adopted as a puppy with one of her litter mates, where she lived for the first couple of years of her life. The story goes that her and her sister jumped up too much, so their family relinquished both of them to the shelter. Not long after she was adopted again, this time without her sister but a few months later she was spotted up for sale on Craigslist. Animal Friends has a strict no sale policy for their adopted dogs, so her adopter brought her back to Animal Friends where she went straight into foster care. And now, we get to enjoy this lovely little lady until we find her a forever home.

Temperament: Dixie is a sweetheart through and through. She loves people and is good with older kids, as she does jump so little kids are not recommended. She is house trained and sleeps through the night on her bed. One thing is for sure, she is a cuddle bug and very loving.

Location: Southern California. Adopter must live in Canyon Lake, Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Temecula, Wildomar, or Menifee for a yard check.

G Dog Diaries

G has been with us for a little over a week now and we just love this sweet boy. We have learned that not only is he a great hiker but he also loves the water and will even jump in for a swim. He is great on a leash and continually looks back to check-in. He is full of energy and nothing makes him happier than a hard core play session with our two rough and tumble Dobermans followed by a nap in the grass.

We've taken him out to eat with us and he just laid so politely under the table on the patio while we ate. No attention paid to people walking by and not a peep. In fact, he is generally a very quiet dog. He does very well in public and is incredibly friendly towards everyone. No barking or pulling to get to people, just a wagging tail and that happy smile.

He is an incredibly intelligent dog and picks up on concepts quickly. We have been diligently working on his manners, and he is already learning to sit for attention rather than jump. He will make a wonderful family dog for a home who's ready for a whole lot of love!

You can read his story here and here.

Finding a Home for G Dog

Yesterday we brought home our newest foster boy, G dog. Although we have had him for less than 24 hours we love him already. He is one of those dogs whose sweetness immediately steals a place in your heart.

When we went to pick him up from his current foster mom he was curled up on a bench beside her and the sight of the two of them together nearly broke our hearts. She didn't want to let him go, but after rescuing G from the streets and getting him all his shots and caring for him, there was simply no way for her to keep him any longer. It was by chance that we even met his savior, Barbara, in a store an hour and a half from our house. We struck up a conversation and some how got on the topic of dogs, and she told us G's story which we wrote about here.

G's Story: While driving one day back in January Barbara noticed a boy throwing rocks and yelling at a scared looking dog, she immediately stopped her car and got out to intervene. After assessing the situation she scooped up G and brought him home with her. She searched for his owner, posted signs and Craigslist listings, but no one stepped forward to claim him. She of course did what any dog loving soul would do, she kept him. She had him neutered and got him all his shots and a rabies certificate, and in the meantime she fell in love with this sweetheart of a dog.

Fast forward four months later to today, due to personal circumstances she had to give him up. Hearing the story and meeting this wonderful dog we could not let him fall victim to a shelter. Barbara had rescued him from entering the shelter system and we wanted to make sure he stayed the same happy boy he was, undaunted by the confines of an unfamiliar holding cell. So, for now he lives at the rebel house; playing, sleeping, and loving life along with our rebel pack.

G is a seriously AWESOME dog! He is equal parts mellow and playful. He became instantly attached to us humans and follows us around the house. He sleeps at our feet and is generally just easy going and quiet. And when it's play time, he is nothing but energy. He runs around the backyard and plays beautifully with our two dobermans and little maltese. He knows how to read other dogs and plays very well. He loves people and has lived with children, which he also loves and is very gentle with.

Name: Gallute, but we call him G

Age: Estimated 2 years

Breed: Staffordshire Terrier mix, he has a beautiful dark brown coat with a white and spotted chest, paws, and muzzle and soulful brown eyes.

Gender: Male, neutered

Health: He is in excellent health and is up to date on all his shots and rabies vaccination. He is a medium size dog with a solid build.

Temperament: G is lucky, because although his start in life is unknown, we do know that he was rescued before he ever found his way into a shelter. He is the sweetest dog, very playful, spunky, and affectionate. He is wonderful with people and children and would make a great family dog. He becomes very attached to his people and would do best with a family or individual who can show him a lot of love and affection.

Location: Southern California

Snoop's Forever Home

Today was bitter sweet, our awesome foster dog Snoop was adopted! Today the dog who melted our hearts and seamlessly joined our family, starts the second chapter to his happy ending.

Snoop went to live with the most incredibly kind couple, Lala and Abel, and their rescue dog, Lady. Like us, they instantly fell in love with Snoop’s endearing disposition the moment they met him. After a brief meet and greet the decision was made, he would join their family and live happily ever after.

Not only will he be showered with love and affection, but he has a friend to play with too. Situated on lush green acreage in the country, Snoop’s new home is the perfect oasis for him to explore and live the happy go-lucky life he deserves.

We already miss that happy Dobe grin and his boundless energy, but knowing he will forever live surrounded by love makes us so very happy.  We love you buddy! Thank you Lala and Abel, you two are life savers.

You can read Snoop's story here, here, and here.

Snoop Dog Diaries

Our foster boy Snoop dog is doing really well and we are so proud of him. He is filling out nicely and is looking like a healthy dog again! He is gaining weight by the day and has finally reached the point where he is too heavy to lift in to the car (but that’s a good thing).

This happy-go-lucky guy loves life and really just loves to be loved. Although he’s eager to eat we are starting to work on manners with mister Snoop, so he is learning to “sit” and “wait” before getting the cue to eat. He is so smart and learning quickly.

Snoop has even begun modeling for Crazy Rebels and helping us product test a new line of custom collars. He’s a natural in front of the camera and oh so photogenic. We just adore his unique white patch and his sleek brown coat, and he doesn’t mind the treats for his modeling efforts.

Next up, polite leash walking… we’ll keep you posted on his progress.

Read more about him here and here.
